The vocabulary you need to be productive in Golden Suite — MDM, entity resolution, survivorship, lineage, trust tiers.

This section is the vocabulary you need to be productive in Golden Suite. Skim it once before reading the Workbench docs and you'll save yourself a lot of back-and-forth.

Each page is short on purpose — three to five minutes a piece.

  • What is MDM? — master data management in one page, framed around the problem rather than the product category.
  • Entity resolution — the algorithm that turns messy duplicates into a single golden record. Blocking, scoring, clustering — what they each do and why we run them in that order.
  • Survivorship — given five rows that all claim to be the same customer, which value wins for each field? The answer is a small set of named rules.
  • Lineage and provenance — every golden record points back to the raw rows that built it. You can answer "where did this come from?" without leaving the UI.
  • Trust tiers — the model behind whether a tool runs automatically, asks first, or requires explicit confirmation. Same idea as filesystem permissions, scoped to data operations.

If you already know MDM, skip to Trust tiers — that's the one piece that's specific to Golden Suite.
