Master data management(MDM)

The discipline of producing one trusted version of each business entity (customer, vendor, product) from scattered sources.

MDM is the operational layer that takes data from many systems (CRM, ERP, support tool, data warehouse, etc.) and produces a single golden record per real-world entity, kept current as new data arrives.

An MDM system is responsible for: ingesting data from sources, resolving identities, picking surviving field values, tracking lineage back to source rows, and exposing the resulting golden records to downstream systems (analytics, billing, GTM tools).

Most MDM products fall into one of three buckets: legacy enterprise platforms (Informatica, Reltio), data-engineering-flavored newer tools (Tamr), and lightweight programmatic libraries (dedupe, Splink). Golden Suite is the latter shape with the operational surface of the former.
